
Joanna was born and raised in Allegheny County and earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her Masters in Professional Counseling from Carlow University with a focus on Trauma Informed Care. She has worked in community mental health settings doing Family Therapy. She has also provided outpatient mental health care to children within elementary schools. She has experience working with young children, teens, and adults
dealing with a wide range of mental health concerns including grief, anxiety, depression,
sexual assault, PTSD, relationship issues, and major life events and transitions.
Joanna brings a down-to-earth, empathetic, strengths based approach to her sessions.
She strives to create a non-judgmental environment where each client feels safe to be
authentic, knowing that they have an ally regardless of what they may be going through.
She often uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral
Therapy to assist clients in improving their relationships, in achieving the ability to
navigate challenging emotions, and clarifying and honoring their own values. She also
has a background in Child Centered Play Therapy and Art Therapy to best address the
mental health needs of children, meeting them within the language of play, which they
naturally speak.
Joanna has a passion for helping many different types of clients using several therapeutic modalities with a specialization in treating children using play therapy.
Joanna is currently in the credentialing process with all major commercial insurances as
well as PA Medicare and Medicaid.
